The Startup Brand RE·ESSENCE Wins Formland Design Award 2024
During the opening of the Formland Design Fair on August 17 at MCH Messecenter Herning, RE·ESSENCE was honored with the prestigious Formland Design Award 2024.
RE·ESSENCE is an innovative powdered concentrate that transforms into a luxurious and gentle hand soap when mixed with water, designed for use with a reusable glass dispenser.
The award is given to the brand or product that best meets the five criteria: relevance, functionality, design, sustainability, and innovation.
The experienced panel of judges, who selected RE·ESSENCE as the winner, included trend expert and speaker Mads Arlien-Søborg, Helle Blok, Editor-in-Chief at Boligmagasinet, designer David Andersen, Peter Myrthu Elmegaard, store manager at Louisiana, Charlotte Johannesen, Creative Director at MCH, and Charlotte Schultz, founder of HyperHyper Interior & Vintage Studio.
"The winner of the Formland Design Award 2024 is the product that achieved the highest overall score, and we can confidently say that the winning product paves the way for a more sustainable future. The concept is unique and well-thought-out, while also being commercially viable and exclusive in its design expression. We hope this concept will inspire others to consider circular solutions in both production and distribution," said jury member and trend expert Mads Arlien-Søborg.
Henriette Holmgreen Thorsen and Cathrine Akselbo Runov, the founders of RE·ESSENCE, launched the brand 18 months ago following 2.5 years of intensive development.
"Many people are unaware that traditional personal care products contain up to 90% water, which increases both weight and CO2 emissions during transport. Our goal is to reduce single-use plastic and unnecessary water transportation with our sustainable alternative," explain Henriette and Cathrine, emphasizing the importance of aesthetics and quality.
"We aimed to create a product where sustainability, quality, and design go hand in hand. Many consumers want to make environmentally conscious choices but don’t want to compromise on aesthetics. That’s why we are incredibly grateful for this recognition, which aligns with these principles."
RE·ESSENCE is developed and produced in Denmark and is available via their own webshop and selected retailers nationwide.
