Spring cleaning is right around the corner, but before we can clean and spread the good living bacteria, we must clean up!!
There is so much in our home that we should throw away or can't get ourselves together to send for recycling. Are you also one of those who started knitting during the Corona shutdown, and where the knitting lies and collects dust? Or are the number of pens piling up in the root drawer? Fortunately, there is help available.
We have listed things you can eliminate or pass on for recycling.
Read along and get inspired so you can be ready for a much-needed spring cleaning in your home:
CLOTHES, BAGS & TEXTILES
If you have not used bags, purses and scarves last year, you won't use them this year either. Take a bag and hand it in for recycling.
Clothes missing a button, need to be sewn etc. If you couldn't pull yourself together to sew the button in or fix the zip, it's probably because you don't use the clothes enough - off to recycling with it.
Clothes that you don't use or can no longer fit. If you haven't used your clothes in the past year or can't take care of them anymore, it's time for someone else to enjoy them - go for recycling.
Single socks should be tucked away in a bag and used for spring cleaning.
Damaged clothes (holes or stains). You may not need to store several pairs of pants, t-shirts or sweaters; a set for the garden/painting task is fine. Off to recycling with the rest
Worn bed linen, put it in the bag with the single socks, because we will use them for the spring cleaning.
Old worn towels, Put it in the bag with the single socks, because we need that for the spring cleaning.
Underwear - old, holey and worn underwear should just be thrown away.
KITCHEN
Plastic bags: Save them 5-10 pcs. and throw the rest into the plastic container. Use reusable shopping bags when you shop anyway.
Empty the drawers. Throw away any leftovers that have not been used.
Do you have 2 of something? – Give your duplicate for recycling. You probably won't need two at once
Lids/Drinking cans, throw out the ones that don't close tightly and all the lids that don't fit anything.
Plastic buckets, choose the good ones that can be stacked and throw out the rest you don't use
Dated items, Check food items, glasses, spices and preserves for the date and throw out the old food items.
BATHROOM
Old makeup, Throw away the old leftovers that you NEVER get to use anyway.
Old bottles of old shampoo and cream. You keep out with the shampoo, conditioner and creams, even if you've bought a new one.
Ancient medicine. Remember, old medication must be returned to the pharmacy.
Toothbrush: Keep them with single socks for spring cleaning.
Toilet brush: The time has come for it to be changed.
Remains of sunscreen: Out; it only works if it's from last year.
THE CHILDREN'S ROOM
Broken toys/teddies need to get out. There will undoubtedly be another child who will be happy with old toys. Off to recycling with it.
THE REST OF THE HOUSE
Junk, check the clutter drawer (yes, we all have one), be critical and throw out or find the right place for things.
Receipts, take pictures of them and throw them away.
Books, magazines and newspapers. If you know you won't read them, send them on for recycling.
Empty cases/boxes for mobile phones and kitchen equipment. Out with them.
Drawings - scan and save them on your computer or make a nice collage.
The vacuum cleaner bag? - Can you even remember when it was last changed?
Cables and no longer used chargers are handed in at the recycling station.
Old mobile phones. Hand it in at the recycling station.
When you sort, you can advantageously have a box standing where you can put down everything you are in doubt about. Next year, you can check the box when you clean up again before spring cleaning. Then maybe you're ready to throw out the things you haven't been missing for a whole year
