Why We Have Moved Parts of Our Textile Production to Turkey

Choosing the right factory to produce textiles requires more than just quality. It’s about transparency, communication, delivery times and a partnership you can stand behind in every step. At Lille Starut, we have always been thorough in our screening of manufacturers, and our new choice of production country is the result of more than a year of work. Here we explain why we now produce parts of our assortment in Turkey – and what it means in practice.
We always choose manufacturers based on a thorough and practical evaluation
From day one, our approach has been the same: we only work with factories we can stand behind 100%.
That means careful screening, close dialogue and a solid understanding of workflow, quality and structure.
We only collaborate with producers we have direct contact with – no long chains of intermediaries – and where we can gain insight into the entire production process.
Close dialogue with staff on the factory floor
Transparency in every part of production
Direct feedback and quick adjustments
Oeko-Tex certified processes
Our requirements remain the same regardless of where in the world production takes place: quality, transparency and a partnership built on trust.
Shorter distance means faster delivery and lower transport costs
Global developments over the past year have changed a lot – including transport, delivery times and logistics.
This led us to explore options for moving production closer to Denmark. A shorter distance provides more flexibility, quicker delivery and better opportunities for ongoing supervision and collaboration.
Shorter delivery times
Less uncertainty in transport
More small deliveries instead of large batches
Easy and fast product adjustments
These needs initiated our screening of new production countries.
Turkey is one of the world’s most experienced textile nations
Turkey is one of Europe’s largest textile-producing countries and has a long history within cotton, weaving and garment manufacturing.
The country is known for stable processes, skilled specialists and production standards that align closely with European expectations.
Additionally, transport times are significantly shorter compared to production in Asia, creating a far more flexible supply chain.
Europe’s second largest textile exporter
Short transport route to Denmark
High expertise in cotton and weaving
Oeko-Tex certified production environments
All of this made Turkey an obvious country to include in our screening process.
A small, family-owned factory with close dialogue and high flexibility
After more than a year of screening, sampling, dialogue and transparency work, we selected a small family-owned textile factory in Turkey as our new production partner.
It’s a factory where we have direct contact with both management and staff, and where the production is open and accessible to us.
Direct communication with the manufacturer – no intermediaries
Short path from idea to finished product
Fast response when adjustments are needed
Transparent production and Oeko-Tex certification
This collaboration allows us to work more flexibly, develop collections faster and ensure a stable level of quality throughout the entire process.
