Purse stool - Bach & Nurup

18 November 2025 | alt.arka

When Bach & Nurup were shaping the interior of their restaurant, they needed a bag stool that elevated the guest experience while seamlessly fitting their aesthetic. They were looking for a solution that combined functionality, warm materials, and a visual calm — without compromising on quality or sustainability.

alt.arka developed a series of bag stools handcrafted from surplus oak sourced from Vindunor’s window production and leather offcuts from Vermund Larsen. Materials that would otherwise have been discarded were transformed into a product with the same refined finish and tactile quality as furniture made from new resources. The stools are designed for everyday use: they are stackable, easy to clean, and visually aligned with the atmosphere of the restaurant.

The process was iterative and collaborative. We developed the design through prototypes, sparring sessions, and multiple meetings, and the project was created by Laura Brath, Katrine Just Jørgensen, Helene Bruun Petersen, and Malthe Møller Høegh.

The result was ten bag stools that are now an integrated part of the experience at Bach & Nurup — supporting their service, their aesthetic, and their ambition to work with responsible materials at a high level of craftsmanship.
