THE FAIRYTALE BEGINS AT DET GAMLE APOTEK

It would only be appropriate to begin the story of Det Gamle Apotek with a “once upon a time”, since that is how most fairytales begin. This story even started off as a Christmas fairytale. At the year 1989, Erik Tygesen founded Det Gamle Apotek in the town Tønder. The foundation for this shop, was his love for old buildings, Christmas and nostalgia. These fantastic components were the basis of the idea of an unusual store, which should be an adventure to visit. This was the dream back then, and that is how the original store presents itself to this day. The store is located on the square in Tønder, and all year round it is a gathering place for the unique magic and nostalgia that often surrounds our holidays.
It all started with Christmas and the physical stores, but today Det Gamle Apotek is so much more that this. Det Gamle Apotek has become one of the leading wholesale suppliers of seasonal items in Scandinavia, with more than 5000 item numbers to offer at any time. We are very proud to say, that most of the items we offer, are in our own design, produced uniquely for us. For each season, our design team draws hundreds of new drawings, with emphasis on combining new trends with the nostalgic and traditional figures which belong to our holiday seasons.
Even though much has changed the last couple of years, our company DNA stays the same. Our core competences are still Christmas, and the coziness and traditions that surrounds this magical holiday. Therefore, we have the privilege of being full-service supplier for hundreds of retailers on their Christmas selections.
