Fair trade baskets from Senegal
A Deal With Care is a production and wholesale company member of Fair Trade Denmark. Our main objective is to help small business owners in Africa to create financial circulation and growth in their businesses. We ensure that the producer gets a good and fair price for their product. With us, it's not about quick trade, but about creating strong ties, good relationships and long-lasting friendships with our weavers. For us, it's the best way to do business.
At A Deal With Care, we also take a social responsibility, child labor is one of the problems we are very focused on and that is why we often make home visits to our weavers. We offer small microloans, it helps families to e.g. improve some conditions at home or as support for the children's schooling. The loans can be repaid with baskets if they wish.
All our baskets are handmade and may vary in size, color and patterns.
All the colored baskets are woven with a plastic line on straw, the plastic line is made of recycled plastic, made in Senegal. The organic baskets are woven with a line made from the leaves of the Bismarck palm.
We buy the baskets directly from the weaver who wove the basket and help to ensure that she gets the amount we have agreed. We agree on a fixed price each year when the straws are most expensive and that price lasts throughout the year. We are proud to say that we are the ones who pay the highest market price to our weavers, but we are also the ones who have the best weavers and the most beautiful baskets. Today our project has also become theirs and said in their own words. Here we are family.
