ByOasen needed a storm-resistant greenhouse and fell for the playful shapes and colors of the NJORD dome. In late 2022, ByOasen decided to upgrade their outdoor space by replacing the ordinary greenhouse with a beautiful NJORD dome. Why? Because the team was tired of replacing glass panes after every gust of wind! After six months, the "Rainbow House" is now the heart of ByOasen, where cultivation happens in summer and provides shelter and coziness for both children and adults in the cooler months.

ByOasen is a unique place in the heart of Nørrebro, where both children and adults can get close to animals and plants. Children can enjoy time with goats and rabbits, explore the wildflower meadow, and appreciate nature in the middle of the city. With a team of volunteers, including retirees and visitors from the nearby senior residences and nursing home, they take care of the raised beds, creating a lush environment.

The raised beds in ByOasen are tended to by a team of volunteers, each of whom has received a plant in the NJORD dome. In August, there is a harvest festival, and everyone can enjoy the result of collective efforts. The colors of the rainbow define the site's identity.

The NJORD dome is unique in many ways, but it is especially its colors that make it a symbol for both ByOasen and the surrounding area. The site is next to a nursing home that focuses on creating a safe environment for LGBT individuals. The vibrant hues of the dome perfectly match this mission, leading to its affectionate nickname, "THE RAINBOW HOUSE."

"We have received many positive feedback about the dome. People find it fun with the lively colors, and we haven't had to replace any panes since we got our NJORD dome," says Solbjørg, one of the team members.

A new green gathering place for nature and community. ByOasen celebrates the harvest every year in August, where the season's gardening and results are celebrated with the children. The dome plays a central role in these activities.

"In the fall and towards winter, the dome is a welcoming place to seek shelter, especially when we receive visits from school classes and institutions. Our planters turn into comfortable seating," explains Solbjørg as she gently touches the leaves of the tomato plants.

ByOasen is still working on improving the area, including installing a faucet at the entrance to the dome. This will ensure that the site can continue to thrive in dry months. The team looks forward to making the dome a central meeting place for cultivation, nature education, and community for both locals and visitors.

The dome is valued by all. Initially, there were concerns about vandalism against the dome, as the area is publicly accessible. However, its beautiful appearance has impressed people so much that they have respected and admired it. Therefore, nothing has happened, and so far, there has only been a slightly critical comment from one of the volunteers, who thinks the dome looks like a "Barbie house." The NJORD team sees this as a compliment and can only rejoice over such a positive response to this colorful addition to ByOasen!
