Talent, creativity and entrepreneurship are in focus when the Danish design fair Formland brings together the most promising entrepreneurs in northern Europe at the vibrant, entrepreneurial CREATORS COMMUNITY area at Formland Spring from 31 January to 3 February 2019.
The creative talents, who come from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Iceland, are exhibiting products within categories such as interiors, handicrafts, fashion and delicacies.
"Common to all the exhibitors in the entrepreneurial area is that their businesses are less than three years old. That's why CREATORS COMMUNITY will be an exciting and lively area, where visitors have a chance to experience the latest products and trends and at the same time be inspired by some budding creativity," says Mai-Britt Risvig Flyvholm, project manager at Formland.
A unique chance
The participants at CREATORS COMMUNITY will be exhibiting side by side with well-known brands such as Broste Copenhagen, Frederik Bagger, Muubs and Eva Solo, giving the upcoming entrepreneurs new and unique networking opportunities. One of the lucky ones to have been selected for a place at CREATORS COMMUNITY is the design business Thorup Copenhagen:
"I'm very much looking forward to participating at Formland. I see the trade fair as a chance to test my contact with a wide range of dealers, and to be in an environment where sparring and good contacts go hand in hand. It creates a dynamic and lively approach at a fair," says Kasper Thorup, who runs Thorup Copenhagen.
The design business Holst & Eschenmoser is also looking forward to joining CREATORS COMMUNITY:
"We're very excited about showcasing our bench SEIT for the first time to a large audience. For us, it represents a big opportunity in many ways. At Formland, we'll be able to present our new ideas in a professional environment, and establish contact with new and experienced people within the furniture design industry. At the same time, we'll be able to gain valuable experience as regards exhibiting in front of a large audience," says Lukas Eschenmoser, adding:
"We set great store by the fact that Formland supports new start-up entrepreneurs like us. This is true both before and after the fair. It enables us to present many new ideas, while at the same time exploiting our creativity to the full in the best possible way."
In the run-up to Formland, all the entrepreneurs have been assigned a professional mentor in the form of a designer or company manager from the Danish business community who will provide help and guidance to ensure the participants get off to the best possible start at the fair.
Design Award ceremony on opening day
Three Design Awards will be presented to CREATORS COMMUNITY exhibitors on the first day of the fair. The first prize is a stand at Formland Autumn 2019 together with a cash prize of EUR 5,000, while the second and third prizes are cash prizes of EUR 1,500 and EUR 1,000, respectively.
A professional jury is responsible for choosing the winners. The jury is made up of Anders Nørgaard (designer), Mads Arlien-Søborg (trend expert and partner at 'We Made It'), Patrizia Venturelli (CEO Trollbeads A/S and founder of the lifestyle entrepreneur network LIS), Ulla Johanne Johansson (editor-in-chief, AllerBolig, Mad & Bolig and MAIN) as well as Mai-Britt Risvig Flyvholm (project manager, Formland).
Previous winners of the Formland Design Award count, among others, Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Company, By Harald Hermandrud and Piece of Denmark.
Formland Spring 2019 will take place on 31 January to 3 February at MCH Messecenter Herning.
