The design and interior fair Formland closed on Sunday after four days of the latest trends and fashion at MCH Messecenter Herning. The large number of exhibitors to the fair offered a wealth of new products and exciting collections, while the best in the industry imparted their knowledge at daily workshops in the trend zone Galerie Éclectique and by giving talks on the Speak UP stage.
With 478 exhibitors, Formland Autumn was completely sold out, and the ten halls which were bursting with the best within design and interior also attracted foreign buyers who were well represented at the fair. Overall, Formland saw a 6 per cent growth in the number of foreign retail outlets compared to last year, a fact which A.U Maison among others noticed first-hand:
"We've had some great days at the fair, with visits by foreign buyers from Germany, Norway, Austria and Japan - and even a rep from a large French chain. We're very pleased that foreign buyers are also finding their way to Formland, which has now become the Scandinavian version of Maison & Objet in Paris," said Camilla D. Christensen, who owns A.U Maison.
Face-to-face meetings win
At Nomess, which used Formland to launch a brand new range of small furniture, everyone was in high spirits after some successful fair days:
"The standard at Formland is extremely high, and this year the fair has been particularly important for us because we have been able to present our brand new collection of furniture and drum up considerable interest. On top of which, there's the fantastic atmosphere. Everyone talks to one another, which creates a very good and friendly feeling among visitors and exhibitors," says Jesper Lyngby, Area Sales Manager from Nomess.
Visitors to the fair included Helene Stolzenberg, who is behind NORDliebe, and she was also very enthusiastic about the Danish design and interior fair.
"Formland is my favourite trade fair where I find new, unique designers for my webshop as well as for the shop which I'm opening in Berlin in September. I like the modern, timeless and classic look which characterises Scandinavian design and Formland's exhibitors," said Helene Stolzenberg, adding:
"Formland also gives me the opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with the people I meet online. Meeting face to face with one's business partners is very important for the quality of the relationship, so it means a lot to me."
Around the world with Stelton
In addition to Formland's 33 workshops and talks, visitors were also able to experience Stelton's competition 'EM77 around the world'. To mark the 40th anniversary of Erik Magnussen's iconic EM77 thermos, Stelton and Formland had invited 16 interior and hardware shops to participate in a competition to create the most beautiful display window with the theme 'EM77 around the world'. The result was 16 inspiring shop windows that show the iconic thermos on its journey around the world. Formland's visitors and a jury were responsible for selecting the winner, which was Magasin Lyngby.
Praise for exhibitors
The MCH management expressed their gratitude after a successful fair:
"I'm delighted that we have had yet another well-organised and outstanding fair, where the involvement and hard work of the exhibitors was rewarded with an increase in the number of foreign retailers, and where both exhibitors and visitors expressed their particular satisfaction at being able to meet business partners and customers face to face," said Georg Sørensen, CEO of MCH A/S.
Formland Autumn 2017 had 12,288 visitors from 38 countries.
