Brands and visitors: Formland is the place to be
19 August 2019
Interior and design products were perused with interest, deals were made and unique knowledge exchanged during the Danish interior and design fair Formland Autumn 2019, which rounded off four inspiring trade show days at MCH Messecenter Herning on Sunday. Exhibitors and visitors alike had nothing but praise for the show.

With trend-setting environments, gorgeous exhibitions and a programme of talks and activities focusing on business, change and innovation, Formland Autumn 2019, which is Denmark's largest of its kind, has provided a unique and inspiring world of experiences.
Spanning 10 halls, visitors explored the displays of 468 exhibitors – prominent as upcoming brands – in MCH Messecenter Herning. Among the exhibitors were Danish interior and furniture brand Normann Copenhagen, which has a very special attachment to Formland compared to foreign trade fairs, reveals CEO Poul Madsen:
"Coming to Formland feels like coming home after having been abroad; familiar and well-known, high level of service, a great framework and happy visitors. Denmark is our largest market, which is why we have a special relationship to the trade fair and the people who come here. We meet decision-takers as well as store managers and assistants, so it is the best place for us to show off our products to as many people in as short a time as possible," he explains.
Rosendahl Group Design, which was represented at Formland by all of its nine brands, also considers Formland as a good meeting place. According to Marie Kristine Schmidt, Vice President for the company's Design, Brand & Marketing department, Formland is unique in the way that it gathers the industry and its stakeholders.
"We get the opportunity to see what is going on across the entire industry, as well as the chance to show off our own products and brands in such a way that we can tell the stories behind them and meet both existing and new partners one-to-one. Participation at Formland is an excellent opportunity to establish new partnerships and show off the overall impression of our business," says Marie Kristine Schmidt.
Overseas interest
There is also clear enthusiasm to be found in the entire 11,913 visitors, which counts both Danish and international professionals. Buyers and sales assistants from a total of 28 countries were represented at the fair, one of whom was Dutch Anna Borsboom from Stylink, who was visiting the fair for the first time. Along with a delegation from a number of the largest museums in the Netherlands, she was at Formland to check out Scandinavian trends.
"Normally we go to a trade fair in Paris to see what is going on in the industry, but we would also like to keep up with what is happening in Danish and Scandinavian design, which is why we opted to visit Formland in Denmark. The fair offers a broad perspective into what is happening in this market," says Anna Borsboom, adding that during her visit she found many interesting elements for the museum shops.
MCH: Thank you and congratulations to the exhibitors
Confirmation from the exhibitors that Formland is the industry's personal and professional meeting place pleases MCH's CEO Georg Sørensen.
"First and foremost, a warm thank you and congratulations to the exhibitors and collaborative partners, who through their passionate efforts have created a unique and inspiring world of experiences, where visitors have been able to enjoy the entire Danish design industry gathered under one roof," said Sørensen, continuing:
"We are grateful that, for the 71st time, we have formed the backdrop for the personal meeting between exhibitors and the visitors' businesses. This trust commits us, and we will continue to strive to create innovation and renewal at Formland."
Formland Spring 2020 takes place from 30 January until 2 February.
Creativity is honoured
Each year, industry magazine Designbase honours Denmark's most innovative design and interiors store, and this year the award was given to Sinnerup Aarhus, which was presented with the award on Sunday at Formland. The prizewinner also receives a nomination to the Global Innovations Award (GIA) in Chicago, which honours the world's most innovative stores.
