Anne Black is a Danish designer with a lifelong passion for porcelain and handmade products that are sustainably produced.
In 1996 Anne Black started out as young design graduate in a small design studio in Copenhagen. In the beginning she personally delivered her porcelain wares by bicycle to a handful of shops. With time, her design received increased national and international recognition and today her porcelain is available in selected shops around the world, from Oslo in Norway to Tokyo in Japan.
Whether it is the tilted salad bowls, pastel-coloured vases or delicately decorated cups and plates, each handcrafted piece of Anne Black porcelain carries her distinctive style – a quintessentially Scandinavian simplicity and refined elegance created entirely by hand.
In Anne’s home city Frederiksberg, in the centre of Copenhagen, Anne has created the concept store Black. Here she combines furniture, fashion and accessories with her own porcelain into a universe reflecting her artistic sensibility and passion for design and quality.
The porcelain is crafted and manufactured in the Anne Black factory near Hanoi, Vietnam. There, all craftspeople are individually trained by Anne to reproduce each new piece with meticulous skill, impeccable quality and attention to detail. The factory is fully CSR optimized, thanks in part to support from the Danida development programme and has under Anne’s leadership become widely recognized for its high social and environmental responsibility.
Anne Black porcelain is carbon neutral as we off set all the CO2 emission from our production and logistics, as well as the emissions generated by our employees’ daily lives, by planting forests and investing in renewable energy projects. On the longer term, as the local energy infrastructure changes, we will change to renewable energy sources.
