The technology and virtuel possibilities are a great part of our life. As a contrast to a busy everyday life featuring devices and online activities, we long for a social breathing space, where you can experience a digital detox and relax - without coming to a complete standstill. Life on Sundays is a social living room where you can take a small break and gather together - in other words; A little more Sunday, every day.
Have you communicated with the world today through your screen?
Have you recieve a text message that your goods are delivered within shortly?
Have you recieved a reminder about your dentist appointment tomorrow?
The technology is a great part of our everyday life - and continues to be! Rather than spending time together, we spend time in front of the screen. We focus on results and keys and try to keep up. Very often we are absent - but does it have to be that way?
At the moment, we experience a powerful, but natural backlash - people long for moments where they use their natural senses rather than virtuel possibilities. We need a digital detox, relaxation and search for new ideals, the imperfect and authentic so we can once again can trust our intuition. We gather our thoughts in a good way, when we get in outright touch with each other and the nature.
SUSTAINABILITY & EXPERIENCES
This need is also reflected in the increasing standards we make to the products enclosing us. The consumers make demands and they prefer quality rather than quantity. There is an increased focus on how we use materials and how materials can be recycled and reused. We do not invest in unnecessary interior, but select quality that last for generations. We are fascinated by natural materials: wood, stone, wool, concrete, cotton, clay, plants on the one hand, on the other hand the modern materials such as plastic, technical materials, recyclable materials and new technological processes.
The raw materials need to be used in their natural element and form - processed as little as possible. The materials need to grow old gracefully, and the quality of the material need to manifest itself. We aim to respect our planet in a new technological way.
The tendency is in line with the Japanese philosophy Wabi-Sabi: See the beauty in the imperfect. Nothing is permanent, nothing is completed. The cycle of the Earth is beautiful, things grow old gracefully and bear witness of a unique story.
We need to take time to feel the true needs, be present and live in the moment. We are optimistic and time is ready for Life on Sundays.
SOCIAL LIVING ROOM MOVES INTO FORMLAND
STUDIO FLYHELSTED has designed a space meant for an analogue break. A breathing space, a natural break in the everyday life without coming to a complete standstill.
The settings for Life on Sundays are partial transparent, we have nothing to hide, but plenty to share. The colours are kept in bright pastel tones and contrasting touches with edge and humour.
STUDIO FLYHELSTED curates and assembles the products in a way so they create and radiate humour with a twist, courage and honesty and remain in line with the natural, original and unique.
So let's meet at Life on Sundays, a social living room, to the sound of vinyl - and get inspired by the short breaks which the five spaces encourage you to take.
INSPIRATION UNIVERSES, SHOPS & ALL-DAY WORKSHOP
The trend zone will consist of a café, a book shop and a paint shop as well as different inspiration universes: from the oasis of the greenhouse with the crackling sound of gravel under the feet, through the kitchen where we take our time to concentrate on cooking without the usage of kitchen machines - as we are not in a hurry. You can organise your thoughts along with the light breeze in the bedroom whilst enjoying the meditative images of the nature. Or share the everyday life at the refectory table in the living room locating an all-day embroidery workshop. Here, you can drop in when you need to take time out, be off-line and be inspired by the elements that gives shape and meaning to life - right now, in the present.
Life on Sundays makes room for taking a break, meet, share, select and feel what makes sense. Here, there is time to enjoy your coffee and leave the tea to infuse. This is where we find the courage to choose and not least: select. Our everyday life is fully booked and we are busy. At 'Life on Sundays', even those feeling completely rushed off their feet will find themselves winding down by providing a feeling of 'a little more Sunday, every day'.
