Mads Odgård is the designer behind the new Carat knife series from Raadvad. Using a functional and ergonomic approach to the design process, Mads Odgård has created a series of knives with a simple and harmonious expression – and in accordance with Nordic values. Carat is nominated for Formland Design Award – Autumn 2008.

- Carat is created with attention to beautiful lines and a good balance. The knives are comfortable to hold, and they are not heavy. The entire series is available at a good price, and the storage in magnetic boxes makes the knives keep their position. This is a well-conceived series of knives, says the Prize Committee in its nomination.

The design of Carat is clearly focused on creating a harmonious distribution of metal and plastic. This creates and underlines the weight and balance of the knife. The knives are forged in special steel and have hand sharpened cutting edges. The handle is made from black, knock proof plastic. The expected retail price is from DKK 249 for the small knives and up to DKK 399 for the large ones.

Pump your own tasty espresso – with a bike pump. This is the concept behind Handpresso Wild from Scandinavian CoffeeSystem ApS. In cooperation with the designer Henrik Nielsen from Nielsen Innovation, the company has created a new and innovative espresso machine that can be used anywhere, anytime. All you need is hot water, coffee and a few pumps on the bike pump. Handpresso Wild is nominated for Formland Design Award – Autumn 2008.

- It is surprising that you can make espresso using a bike pump. Handpresso Wild is innovative, functional and well-conceived and has a beautiful finish. Handpresso Wild uses no electricity – only hand power from the user.
